Welcome to our Restaurant
مطعم ياهلا – Yahala Mataam is Arabic for Welcome Restaurant.
The idea for Yahala Restaurant came after sampling the food cooked by Syrians living in York. An Arabic feast full of flavour, recipes handed down many generations; cooked for the first time in the City.
Yahala Restaurant is a Pop-up restaurant, opening up for one night a month. It is a partnership project between the Refugee Council, York City Church and a group of gifted chefs from Syria.
We are currently closed due to the pandemic – we hope to re-open the restaurant soon.
Launching in Refugee week – 18th June
Yahala at Home
What would you say if we could bring the smells and the taste of our cuisine in to your home? During refugee week (14-20th June 2021) we will be launching a new initiative – Yahala at Home – you will have the opportunity to participate in an online cookery lesson. Via zoom our chefs will teach you, whilst you cook along at home.
