When you come to Yahala Mataam, one of the things that we’re trying to do is enable you to come into the home of one of our refugee friends, to be served a meal that would be served in a Syrian/Afghan home, in an authentic way! This means a table full of food; (yes a lot of rice!!) and many people. It is the norm to have friends treated like family and different generations of the actual family around the same table, lots of passing dishes and plates across the table to your ‘brothers’ (Akee) and sisters (Uktee). So with this in mind we’d love to encourage you to book a bigger table 2, 3, 5, maybe 5 more people and think about who you can invite into your family for the evening and to enjoy this experience together.
